Tackle Box (Washington DC) – May 15, 2008

Encouraged by the success of Hook Restaurant in Georgetown Washington DC. The Pure Hospitality group opens a second DC seafood house. Only this one has a more casual atmosphere and informal menu. To coincide with the opening of Tackle Box, the new casual “lobster shack”, Pure Hospitality partnered with Blue Water Media to develop the logo, branding, website, and complete identity for the new restaurant.

Blue Water Media set out to create a brand identity for Tackle Box that projected the restaurant’s desired image of a local beach-town seafood restaurant. This visage was achieved using rustic imagery, handcrafted wood, chalkboards, and posted notes reminiscent of quaint Maine lobster shacks.

In addition to making seafood more accessible, affordable and casual in the Georgetown neighborhood, the Tackle Box is committed to sustainable seafood; “To us, sustainability doesn’t mean saying ‘no’ – it means saying ‘yes’ to new solutions and a different kind of environmentalism. We use our purchasing power as a restaurant to support suppliers who are using habitat-friendly fishing gear, supporting their local fishing communities and are consistently looking to improve their practices.

The new restaurant, as well as the new website, have been meet with great fanfare. With so many, formal seafood restaurants that require a lengthy dining experience, most customers comment that they are happy to have a seafood choice that can be fast, affordable, and delicious.
